Jenny Strikes a Nerve Within the Vaccine Industry

12 Aug

Jenny McCarthy is replacing Elisabeth Hasslebeck on The View. This would normally pass by without much fanfare if it were not for the media attention brought to the subject. Both Jenny’s free speech and parental decision making has been the focus of criticism by many in the media due to her outspoken position on vaccines.

There is no doubt that vaccines have benefits. The question becomes what are the risks versus the benefits. A Statement from the Surgeon General, Dr. Satcher on the Risk vs Benefit of Vaccinations
goes into great detail about the benefits, but leaves the risks to be derived from the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986.

Approximately 15 percent of the reports describe events considered serious, defined as an event that is fatal, life-threatening, requires or prolongs hospitalization, results in permanent disability, or in the judgment of the physician could lead to such an outcome in the absence of medical intervention.

In the case of the Flu vaccine, it is not 100% effective and the most common forms of it vary from year to year. This makes it the number one vaccine due to its recurring nature and annual revenue stream and the risks may outweigh the benefits which are short term in most cases.

“A regular case of the flu typically resolves after three to seven days for the majority of people, although cough and fatigue can persist for more than two weeks.”

If we were only talking about the Flu vaccine, that would be one thing, but as the vaccine business has ballooned to over $25B per year and growing, most pharmaceutical companies are now chasing the market. With the risks associated to that market for children quantified by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, any permanent disability, long term illness, or death from vaccines is just a cost of doing business.

$2.7B has been paid out from the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 so far.

“the… law acknowledged that vaccine injuries and deaths are real”

The number of suggested vaccines is staggering. The National Vaccine Information Center suggests that children are to get:

49 doses of 14 vaccines by the age of 6

69 doses of 16 vaccines by the age of 18.

Jenny McCarthy simply representing a thinking Mom, rocks the boat of the vaccine industry. ABC has so far held their position regardless of the attacks by the mostly medically unqualified journalists working to sell a story.
